OUR RESEARCH & PHILOSOPHY
Cham's research approach is inspired by developments in neuroscience and skin biology. Skin is known to be highly innervated and closely associated with immune activity. Scientific literature has shown that processes such as inflammation regulation, hydration maintenance, barrier function, and pigmentation are governed by complex cellular signaling systems rather than surface appearance alone.
Early neuroscience helped establish how biological tissues respond to internal signals and maintain balance. The work of Santiago Ramón y Cajal contributed to understanding how cells communicate through organized networks. Later, Walter Cannon described the principle of homeostasis, highlighting the importance of internal equilibrium for healthy biological function. These foundational ideas continue to influence how skin biology is studied today.
Guiding Skin Biology Principles
Our formulations are guided by broad biological principles commonly discussed in skin science.
Support for Calm Skin States
Ingredients such as niacinamide, panthenol, allantoin, centella asiatica, chamomile, licorice, and portulaca oleracea are widely studied for their association with soothing skin and supporting balanced skin conditions.
Hydration Environment Maintenance
Humectants including glycerin, betaine, butanediol, sodium hyaluronate, and related compounds are used to support hydration environment. Ceramides and related materials are also used. Adequate hydration is considered an important factor in overall skin comfort and appearance.
Barrier Support
Compounds such as ceramides, amino acids, and barrier-supporting polymers are employed to align with the skin's natural protective structure. A stable barrier is generally associated with reduced sensitivity and a more uniform skin appearance.
Surface Microenvironment Consideration
Fermented ingredients and post-thermal components are included based on emerging research around skin surface balance and resilience. These materials are chosen to complement the skin microenvironment rather than disrupt it.
Measured Approach to Brightening
When brightening-associated ingredients are used, they are incorporated to avoid excess irritation. This approach reflects a preference for gradual, supportive formulation design rather than aggressive or sensitizing strategies.
Our View on Glow
Cham does not define glow as oiliness, reflectivity, or immediate surface shine. We view it as an appearance that develops as skin feels comfortable, hydrated, and supported over time.
Rather than focusing on instant visual effects, our approach emphasizes formulation balance and consistency of use. The intent is to support skin conditions that allow light to reflect more evenly from healthy-looking skin, without relying on surface residue.
Cham products are designed around long-term skin comfort, formulation integrity, and respect for skin biology.
This is our research and formulation philosophy. Neuroscience-backed- applied thoughtfully to skincare development.
